It's strange in that you're not actually climbing - you walk along on what appears to be level ground and then suddenly there's a ditch a mile deep and ten miles across. It doesn't even seem real, as if someone has placed a matte backdrop across the horizon. I can see how an acrophobe would get so gleefully creative about your demise if you tried to take her there, though. ;)

I used to like heights more than I do now. You can't spend decades in theatrical lighting without running around on catwalks and hanging from ladders in ways that would make OSHA inspectors hyperventilate. But I find myself a bit more wary these days, alas.

The current administration has probably done more for drug and alcohol sales in this country than any marketing rep could possibly have dreamed of. Sobriety is now a form of rebellion!Davidhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03463621516644789183noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5977625681756554695.post-75517561618627450792017-09-11T08:14:04.556-05:002017-09-11T08:14:04.556-05:00My whole OCD thing with chips tends to drive my wi...My whole OCD thing with chips tends to drive my wife completely bonkers. And, you may color me an appropriate shade of surprised, as well, if they were "essentially intact". I will not call you a liar - I recognize that it is entirely possible that you have an entirely different definition of those two words that is entirely at odds with mine. Despite your superior education and all.

Thanks! These are trying times for us recovering alcoholics. That thumping noise in Washington could drive Carrie Nation ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carrie_Nation ) to drink, and it has become particularly challenging to stay sober these days. Never cared much for the reds, I was always kinda an Annie Green Springs ( http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=annie%20green%20springs ) sorta wine drinker. Unless, of course there wasn't anything else with alcohol to drink. Like NyQuil or something.

My wife would never have been able to sit in that part of the stadium - she is terrified of any height above, well, ground level, really. She has trouble looking at photographs taken from any height. I once took her to Bryce Canyon early in our marriage - she never got out of the car. She has threatened my very existence and all record of my history on this planet if I should ever even suggest a visit to the Grand Canyon.

And accolades to the most precious and essential member of the band. Lauren has done well, we can see how so very proud of her you and her mother are. You have every reason in the cosmos to be so.

LucyLucyInDisguisehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08169432604954981941noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5977625681756554695.post-84253097911541392752017-09-10T20:07:44.496-05:002017-09-10T20:07:44.496-05:00Surprisingly enough, the chips were essentially in...Surprisingly enough, the chips were essentially intact when we opened the bags. They were kettle chips, for one thing, so they were a bit more structurally sound than your average potato chip. And they didn't fling them randomly at us, so they had some gentle landings. But yes, there is a difference between potato crumbs and potato chips and that difference often comes down to the supermarket bagger.

Congrats on such a long time sober! Seriously - that's a real achievement.

I still haven't developed a taste for beer and at this point I doubt I ever will. Give me red wine, hearty and dark. Give me a good whiskey. I can drink far more mead than is probably healthy. And, honestly, I'll take a strong black tea over any of those. I am fortunate enough that alcoholism was never much of a temptation for me, and I have always been glad for that bit of genetic luck.Davidhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03463621516644789183noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5977625681756554695.post-15425726859493108512017-09-10T16:57:27.485-05:002017-09-10T16:57:27.485-05:00Okay, so that was three.

It really sucks.

'Cause this actually makes six.

LucyLucyInDisguisehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08169432604954981941noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5977625681756554695.post-53271965869268827422017-09-10T16:52:15.254-05:002017-09-10T16:52:15.254-05:00Only one thing to say. Well, maybe two.
I have a ...Only one thing to say. Well, maybe two.

I have a real problem with this statement: "there was also a group that was tossing full-sized bags of potato chips at us."

I'm pretty certain that they were not bags of potato chips, but, rather, potato pieces. They may have, at one time been 'chips', but as soon as they got 'tossed' they were no longer 'chips'. Certainly, not once they arrived at their landing point.

(This is neither the time nor place to get into my whole OCD thing about chips vs. pieces. Someday, when you have the time, i'll tell you all about why no bagger or checker at any grocer is allowed to touch my bags of potato chips.)

Two.

See, here's what I was saying in the last post: though poetic, almost nothing rhymes.

Cheers (to a fellow scorner of American beer, if I'm going to drink a beer, i'm going for a German Dark. Just sayin'. In my day, Vodka was my poison ... although there is something to be said for a superior blended whiskey. If memory serves. To be truthful, memory of that period in my life is a wee bit unreliable. 36 years, 8 months, 9 days sober I have been. Even yet today I'm still a little foggy on the hours and minutes, but I could probably get close if you insist - and you'll need to give me a few minutes to work that out...)

And, I've said it before - Rugby makes American Football look like a bunch of wimps at a garden party. ;)

LucyLucyInDisguisehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08169432604954981941noreply@blogger.com
