There are even written records of it!

The think about Vikings is they needed a fairly specialist kind of boat for their raids, and the earlier ones weren't up to it. So those people didn't do any viking.

The earliest evidence of humans in Britain is around 750,000 years ago - in Sweden it's only 12,000 years ago. That's what latitude will do for you. But I think the oldest thing we saw was West Kennet Long Barrow, which was a mere 5600 years old.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11704326408382310378noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5977625681756554695.post-43212880371575059402012-07-25T13:42:21.554-05:002012-07-25T13:42:21.554-05:00The Romans were interlopers anyway.
The Migration...The Romans were interlopers anyway.

The Migration Period only goes back to around 400-500CE, and before that you get Bronze/Iron Age settlements in Scandinavia.

While we saw a number of Bronze/Iron Age sites in England (our England visit was more historically focused than our Sweden visit, which is why I'm spending so much time on it right now), we didn't see them in Sweden. It was a different but equally wonderful trip there. :)Davidhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03463621516644789183noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5977625681756554695.post-23120321578355181972012-07-25T11:32:40.757-05:002012-07-25T11:32:40.757-05:00There are no Viking settlements in Sweden earlier ...There are no Viking settlements in Sweden earlier than about 700 because before that they are called Migration Period rather than Viking. People have been living in Sweden for a very long time.

Just because the Romans didn't get there...Phialahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05604909119508288912noreply@blogger.com
